Brown Butter Cinnamon Crinkle Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar for coating
Instructions:
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat
Cook the butter, swirling occasionally, until it turns a golden-brown color and gives off a nutty aroma
This should take about 4-5 minutes
Be careful not to burn it
Remove the browned butter from heat and let it cool to room temperature
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled brown butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar
Mix until well combined
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition
Stir in the vanilla extract
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a smooth dough forms
Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight
Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and line baking sheets with parchment paper
Take the dough out of the refrigerator and shape it into 1-inch balls
Roll each ball in powdered sugar until completely coated and place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving enough space between each cookie
Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops start to crackle
Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely
Enjoy these delicious Brown Butter Cinnamon Crinkle Cookies with a glass of milk or your favorite hot beverage
