Sweet Potato and Sage Butter Casserole

This Sweet Potato and Sage Butter Casserole is a deliciously comforting side dish that pairs perfectly with any meal. The combination of sweet potatoes, fragrant sage butter, and warm spices creates a dish thats both savory and sweet.

Ingredients:

  • 4 sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 6 fresh sage leaves, chopped
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 375F 190C

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat

Add the chopped sage leaves to the melted butter and cook until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes

In a mixing bowl, combine the thinly sliced sweet potatoes, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper

Toss to coat the sweet potatoes evenly

Transfer the seasoned sweet potatoes to a greased casserole dish

Pour the sage butter over the sweet potatoes, making sure to distribute it evenly

Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender and caramelized on the edges

Serve hot, garnished with additional fresh sage leaves if desired
